O Come, Emmanuel!
The season of Advent (Latin Adventus means ‘coming’) anticipates the coming of Christ from two different perspectives: it offers the opportunity to share in the ancient longing for the coming of the Messiah, and to be alert for his Second Coming.
Voix de Femmes Chamber Choir and Soprano Suzanne Karpov will explore music written for this wonderful time of expectant waiting. Come hear the message of the Angel Gabriel to a lowly Maiden, a Rose of Great Vertu, announcing deliverance to the descendants of Adam, who laid ybounden for four thousand winters. And join us as we sing: Love, the Lord is on the Way!
Featuring Soprano Suzanne Karpov and Voix de Femmes; Steven Seigart, accompanist

Winter Stillness: Music inspired by Chant
Featuring Soprano Brooke Evers, with Cellist Aneta Otreba Kuznik
The stillness of a landscape freshly covered in snow brings peace to our souls. Chant music captures this feeling of serenity, of ‘otherworldliness’. In this concert, we wish to transport you to a world of ancient melodies sung in countless abbeys during the Middle Ages. We will explore the exquisite musical writings of Abbess Hildegard Von Bingen (Germany), as well as lively pieces from two unusual collections found in Spanish monasteries: the Las Huelgas Codex from Burgos (Northern Spain) and the Llibre Vermell from Montserrat (Catalan region).
The influence of this vast Chant repertoire has remained strong throughout the centuries and has inspired many composers such as, in the 20th century, Maurice Duruflé and Francis Poulenc.
